Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American black comedy Neo-Noir detective film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, from a story of Tarantino and Roger Avary. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson play Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, Mob contract killer (Hitmen) with a taste for philosophical discussions.
Tarantino had written the part of Jules Winnfield with Samuel L. Jackson in mind, but the actor lost it almost after his first audition by Paul Calderón. Jackson assumed that the audition was just a reading. Harvey Weinstein convinced Jackson for the second time, and his performance of the last diner scene won over Tarantino. Jules was originally written with a giant afro, but Tarantino and Jackson agreed to the Jheri-curled wig, which was seen in the movie. Jackson received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
